“Although I realize that Alice Paul made some unfortunate political choices at various points in her career in women's suffrage, I feel her lifelong efforts on behalf of women have been too often ignored. She devoted her life to women's rights. As a student at the University of Maryland in the sixties, I spent a little less than a week lobbying for the ERA and met Ms. Paul. Oh, I recall the angelic face and steely eyes and was overcome with respect for this indomitable woman. I would like to see her memorialized, perhaps in portraiture, along with other suffragists. I would like to add that Ms. Paul fought for females, not men masquerading as women, and so feel such men should not be included in any memorial.”
