Anna Laymon’s days are spent joyfully serving as President & CEO of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation. A transformative leader, she came to the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation with one bold idea — to place a monument to American women’s history on the National Mall — and has made that dream a reality. As President & CEO of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation, she has secured legislation for the monument’s placement on the National Mall, raised millions of dollars in support, and brought together an unparalleled coalition of partners and ambassadors that includes luminaries, leaders, and every living First Lady.
Her deep expertise in women’s history and her dedication to the cause were forged through her work as Executive Director of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission (WSCC) and as the Director of Partnerships and Public Programs for the National Woman’s Party. At the WSCC, she was the youngest woman in American history to lead a federal agency, ensuring the story of women’s fight for the ballot was celebrated nationwide. She came to her passion for women’s history like so many others – in her grandmother’s trailer in Sequatchie County, Tennessee, where A League of Their Own was the only working VHS tape.
