Wendy Carriker

Wendy Carriker is 2026-2028 General Federation of Women’s Clubs International President.

A dedicated clubwoman since 1985, Wendy has been involved in volunteer and leadership opportunities throughout her community, North Carolina, and the Southeastern Region.

Serving as GFWC Treasurer (2016-2018), GFWC Secretary (2018-2020), GFWC Second Vice President (2020-2022), GFWC First Vice President (2022-2024), and President-elect (2024-2026), Wendy has utilized her leadership and organizational skills in all that she accomplishes, including her role as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee.

Wendy served as GFWC of North Carolina Director of Junior Clubs (2000-2002), as State President (2012-2014), and has been a GFWC of North Carolina Honorary Member since 2000. During her Administration as state president, a new membership video was distributed to clubs across NC. The President and Director of Junior Clubs Special Project’s goal of providing 500,000 meals for food-insecure children was met and exceeded, with over 17 million meals through projects promoting No Kid Hungry and Feeding America.

Wendy was elected to the Mount Airy City Schools Board of Education in 1996, where she served as Vice Chair, Chairman, and was an active, informed board member. She has been committed to serving NC students through her membership in the NC School Boards Association sitting on the NCSBA Board of directors for 6 years and has consistently advocated for students in her community. She chose not to run for re-election in 2024, ending her dedication to the students of Mount Airy City Schools after 28 years. In 2025, she was honored by the Board of Education with a place on the Board of Education Wall of Leadership and Service. An award recognizing individual citizens who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to the community.

A lifelong Girl Scout, she volunteered as Troop Leader, Cookie Chairman and shared her love of making handmade items with area scouts. Wendy volunteered at Victory Junction Camp, a camp for chronically ill children, for eighteen years volunteering as “weekly staff” during the summers and as part of their speaker’s bureau. She provided hundreds of handmade checkered bears to the camp over the years, so that each camper was able to take a camp bear home with them to remember their experiences.

The owner of Wendy Jane Creations has been producing handmade craft items, quilts, and machine embroidery items since 1978. Her hand-made items can be seen in many homes and locations across North Carolina and are on display at the Surry Arts Council Welcome Center alongside art by other local craftsmen. She also owns Megan’s Mutt Munchies and has been making healthy, wholesome dog treats since 1998. She stays busy creating, baking, and volunteering. Married since 1977 to her husband Chip, they have two daughters and three grandsons.
