19 Distinguished Leaders Named to the Foundation’s Council of Advisors

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation announced their Council of Advisors, a group of nationally recognized leaders and experts in American women’s history, public art, monuments and memorials, and civic engagement.

“We are honored to welcome these distinguished leaders to our Council of Advisors,” said Anna Laymon, Executive Director of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation. “With their expertise guiding this effort, we will ensure that the 36 million people who visit our Nation’s Capital each year experience a deeper and more inclusive American story.”

“The Foundation’s leadership model is intentionally structured to elevate a diversity of voices, experiences, and expertise that will collectively guide the organization’s work to build this monument,” said Dr. Colleen Shogan, Chair of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation’s Board of Directors. “The Council of Advisors will play a critical role in guiding the Foundation’s work to establish a national monument in Washington, D.C. to commemorate women’s fight for the vote and honor the pioneers of the early American movement for women’s equality.”

• Dr. Jane Kamensky, Professor of American History at Harvard & Pforzheimer Foundation Director of the SchlesingeLibrary on the History of Women at Harvard Radcliffe Institute
